Bryan started gaming with the Nintendo Gameboy Advance SP followed by the Nintendo DS, mostly playing games from the Pokémon series. He grew up watching cartoons on television, which also included Japanese anime like Naruto, One Piece, Pokémon, and Yu-Gi-Oh! He began PC gaming in 2008 with RuneScape, Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike, and Counter-Strike: Source.
In 2010, he joined a massive online gaming community which led him to play mainstream titles such as Call of Duty 4, Call of Duty: Black Ops, and the Battlefield series. Emanuel introduced him to StarCraft II, Diablo II and later Minecraft. Their activities on Minecraft would eventually lead to the founding of Sapphire.
