Sapphire Development is a social and gaming organization. It was originally intended to be a dedicated media/developer hence the name Sapphire Development but has since become merely a group of friends. It is more commonly known as Sapphire. The most common hangout place for the group is Sapphire's TeamSpeak3.

The History of Sapphire

Pre-Sapphire (October 2010 - September 2011)

Seaport, the place where it all started.

The group originated on a Minecraft server called ArmiTunes Freebuild, and was formed officially in September of 2011. However, the earliest traces of Sapphire can be found in 2010, when Bryan Gregory and Emanuel Cicortas, also known as t3sla, found the server on a Minecraft server list, whilst looking for the legendary "Sexy Town" which was mentioned in SeaNanner's (a famous YouTuber) interview with the creator of Sexy Town. By mistake, they thought ArmiTunes was the server which held the Sexy Town. People falsely confirmed this with them, and so they began the search for Sexy Town on ArmiTunes. It wasn't found, however, ArmiTunes proved to be a fun place, therefore Bryan and t3sla became regular players. Eventually a town called Seaport was established, in which the gang begun.

The Originals (September 2011 - December 2011)

About a year later, the basic foundation of the group had formed: Bryan Gregory, Emanuel Cicortas (t3sla), along with new members Mohammad Bhatti (Funky), Caleb Duke (Slar3xSpr33), Ole Martin Fiska (Cydax), and a female known as JJhawk152 who was later revealed to be named April.

The server had a procedure to follow when a new Minecraft update broke the server's plugins and configurations. It was to back up the normal map and replace it with a temporary map, until the plugins were updated. This temporary map was survival (as opposed to the regular creative/freebuild). Naturally, it got chaotic. By this time, Bryan, t3sla, and JJ had become moderators under Armitage (the administrator). Therefore, they helped ensure that the procedure happened smoothly.

On one temporary map, fellow players Jack Campbell and James Lockwood joined the group in building a great underground fortress known as Keldagrim. Cydax also brought his Norwegian friends Sindre Boe and Tor Thorkildsen (AKA Sarim). In order for the construction to work out as planned, there must have been some sort of coordination. They first talked over Skype. After a few shy introduction, everyone began to befriend each other. Note: JJhawk152 did not participate in this.

Keldagrim was a brilliantly designed. It had a red herring fortress on the surface with shops and farms and a large wall. At the front gate, there was a gate system with a defense mechanism designed by Jack and James. This was Surface Keldagrim. This created time for the development of Underground Keldagrim, which was dug out from two crossing ravines, with a half-water, half-lava river remaining, revealing the original outline of the ravines.

During this time, the group began to take form with leaders to light the way for the group. Bryan assumed a general leader position while Cydax became a financial leader. They asked t3sla to take charge of Technical inquiries. Caleb was assigned to be the leader of the community (which was later passed to Mike), and Funky was assigned Art & Media leader.

Sometimes, working on Keldagrim was a bit boring for the group. They became quite fond of a griefing group called Team Avolition and decided to follow them. To kill some time, they asked t3sla to begin developing a Minecraft griefing client similar to Team Avolition's Reliant client. The group used this client to redecorate some servers. Today, these things are the things that shan't be spoken of. The client was eventually called SapphClient and continued to receive updates for a long while after. After the Keldagrim project, the group decided to stay together and frequently meet over Skype. After another temporary map was placed on ArmiTunes, the group began to act malevolently. They began to grow impatient of waiting for the plugins to update. Therefore, they redecorated the entire spawn area of the temporary map, and Bryan performed an act known as The Punisher which is still renowned today. ArmiTunes was taken offline, "for maintenance and will be back up shortly". It never returned.

The original Sapphire Minecraft server.

The group had many mixed feelings: confusion, anger, anxienty. They decided to start their own server, as an ArmiTunes legacy server project. Initially, Bryan hosted the server. This is about the time when the group decide to pave its pathway to success. They were now named Sapphire Development. They started a YouTube channel and began advertising their server. Funky brought his friends Michael McGloin (aka Mike), Ethan Schulze (lilfizzhead), and Alexander Thomas in order to aid the popularization of the server. Cydax offered to start paying for a dedicated server, to increase interest in the server.

The server didn't get too far and eventually the group turned back to redecorating other servers for fun. The group eventually stumbled upon an "ungriefable" server. It was not griefable because griefing was encouraged. It was a HardCore PvP server called Darkholm, where the next chapter of Sapphire began.

Darkholm Age (December 2011 - May 2012)

Darkholm was not a welcoming place. In fact, Ethan and Alex had already left because they lost interest in the group right after the decline of the Sapphire server. The group split into two sub-groups united by one "faction" (which was a group plugin on Darkholm which allowed the protection of the group's land from other people). At first it was Bryan & Caleb and Cydax, Sindre, & Sarim. t3sla began to stray away from the group at this point. Mike and Funky were dealing with in real life issues at the time.

The faction's first de facto leader was Cydax. Only donators to the server could start a faction, therefore Cydax (being the rich person he is) was able to get the faction started. It was named Void, as Bryan suggested it should have been. The faction quickly gained opposition and before they knew it, had a bounty on its head. After many base moves, Void's HQ were at a far away sanctuary. One of the main goals of Darkholm was to PvP. There was a PvP designated zone at the spawn. Frequently, people would leave their most prized posessions at their faction bases, get equipped, and go to the PvP Zone. While in the PvP zone, Void attracted the attention of a devout warrior Nick Zaslav whom was known as Creasingwolf. Creasingwolf was instantly an enemy to the faction. After much shit-talking, the battle against him ended in a draw.

The encounter with Creasingwolf only made the situation worse. He was apart of a faction with some great PvPers who were out to eliminate Void. As more hatred grew towards Void, they decided to just embrace it by forcefully destroying factions who opposed them. It picked up some lost individuals who contributed greatly to the faction. Tybljo was a great addition to the team, who always located the bases of anti-Voiders. He was picked up after his home base was destroyed by Void. Alas, Void had to keep moving.

Bryan had met another Minecraft player at his school (in real life). His name was Jeremy Plasencia. He was interested in the whole Void business, and joined in. Ever since Jeremy joined Sapphire, there has been a rise in conflict within Sapphire. He would either be friends with the group or decide to leave and then later come back.

Eventually, Void settled on an island. It was temporarily renamed to RedStoners and was now led by Caleb. Cydax, Sarim, and Sindre began laying low and stopped associating with RedStoners. They reserved the name Void, just incase it would someday return. Caleb's plan did not turn out well. People discovered that RedStoners was the new Void. A new foe from Creasingwolf's unknown faction, turned up: Kenan Heath, known in-game as SpecialK.

SpecialK was thought to be a friendly figure, until it was discovered that he was showing bandits the way to RedStoner's newest base on the island. The bandits raided and destroyed the base. One figure, Dakota Warner (known as hyprman33 in-game) was revealed to be the warlord controlling Creasingwolf and Specialk. RedStoners began to fall.

"Playing" League of Legends.

At about this time, Darkholm's VIP system was revamped. Instead of three simple donator ranks, there were about five. Ranging from Squire (5 dollars) to King (100 dollars), they were extremely over powerred and were in high demand. A ten year old rich boy named 74 became famous for spending money on everyone he saw. He was exploited, even by RedStoners, to gain power. After countless trials, RedStoners was still showing decline. Caleb decided he would step down from leadership and split off making his own faction called Onyx, while making a mockery of Sapphire. Caleb leaves not only the faction, but Sapphire as a group.

Void was back to Cydax's leadership. Bryan decided to stick with Cydax, while tybljo and Jeremy went with Caleb. There were often fueds between Void and Onyx. This went on for months until eventually Caleb crossed the line. He united with the master of Creasingwolf and Specialk, hyprman33. Effortlessly, Void was wiped out, again. One of the tallest standing nations on the server, destroyed by one man. Caleb reduced his Minecraft hours, as Dakota (hyprman33) showed him a new game, League of Legends. Void saw an opportunity to rebuild. After inviting Creasingwolf, Specialk, and their other two friends Woods Connell and Will Messick (AKA weyrt), they agreed to merge, making one superfaction, positioning Bryan as Supreme Chancellor of the Void Empire.

The final Void base.

The requirements to join the new superfaction was at least Baron (a 50 dollar VIP rank) or King (100 dollar VIP rank). Putting together all the building material the ranks gave, the Void Empire was born. The Headquarters at the core was an obsidian box which contained all of Void's goodies. This obsidian box was surrounded by a lava moat. Both this box and the moat were also encased in another obsidian box. Void by itself was one of the largest factions the server has ever witnessed the rise of, especially in such a short time span. Now, being merged with about five other huge powers, it definitely became the largest faction. Meanwhile, hyprman33 decided to lay low for the time being.

The main anti-Void powers were the followers of Glen, a rebel who was tired of being crushed by the Void Empire. There was no calm before the storm. It was obvious that many soldiers lined up against the walls of Void ready to knock it down. While the battle started, Bryan snuck out to make sure the HQ was locked down. Just then, hyprman33 appears inside the base. He entered through illegitimate means. Since he was already inside, Void decided to run a self-destruct sequence to make sure that if they couldn't have their treasure, he couldn't either. Thus that ended the Great Void Wars.

After all that, Nick Zaslav (Creasingwolf), Will Messick (Weyrt), and Dakota Warner (hyprman33) became Skype regulars, and Caleb had made a return to Sapphire. They focused less on the factions, and more on getting staff positions on Darkholm. After a long campaign, Caleb and Cydax both became moderators. However, due to the obvious corruption in the server, the group decided to withdraw from the server. During this time, the group began to transition from Skype to Raidcall, in hopes of better voice communication service. Caleb and hyprman33 also persuaded the entire group to play League of Legends, which brought t3sla back. One final note to make is that Jeremy Plasencia brought two new members to the group: Jimmy Hong and Jessenia Otalora, who were already League of Legends veterans. Finally, a new chapter shall be started.

Jimmy Hong and co (May 2012 - May 2013)

DayZ.

May of 2012 was spent playing League of Legends. The group needed to learn how to play, and the time was right. Caleb left Sapphire for the second time and eventually came back. As soon as June hit, school broke out. People left on holiday trips. This was something new to Sapphire. It was their first Summer together. Almost everyone had gone out somewhere. In July, when everyone reunited, the group began playing the newest hit game, DayZ. It was a zombie mod of ARMA 2. The group, along with its newest members, had the time of their lives. Eventually August came, giving everyone an unpleasant reminder that school was coming. As soon as school started back up, everyone went back to playing League of Legends. Throughout the school year, Jimmy Hong began to establish himself. He brought in his younger brother, Johnnie Hong, sometime in late 2012. Around this time is when Caleb made his third leave, which was thought to be the final one.

Over the new years, it was settled that Sapphire would upgrade to a 20 slot TeamSpeak server, funded by Bryan. As the transition was being made, Caleb Duke returns to Sapphire. In early 2013, Jimmy Hong brings in a new friend from school named Ryan who didn't do much but talk to the group. Jimmy began to take League of Legends seriously. By this time, most of the group has developed decent skills. During the months of March and April of 2013, the group organized a League of Legends team called Sapphire Gaming. The team had fun and practiced frequently, but it was obvious that the team was dysfunctional and at a decline.

Callisto raid (April 2013 - May 2013)

The Callisto raid, including the other team.

Sapphire Gaming was scrimming against a team, when they decided to take it outside of League of Legends. SG had the enemy team join the Sapphire TeamSpeak server to have a chat and play some All Random All Mid games together. They eventually befriended each other, for the day. The whole TeamSpeak was shocked by the following: a figure named Callisto whose voice can only be described as divine joined the TeamSpeak server for an hour. Appropriately, this occurred on 4/20, National Weed Day. That day, the events of Callistostarianism occurred.

After the raid of Callisto, the server was officially renamed from Sapphire's TeamSpeak 3 to (Sapphire's The People's Republic of Callisto or just simply The People's Republic of Callisto but is still often referred to by its original name and rarely by its new name. The reason for this is that a few members were not present during these events, and refuse to accept Lord Callisto. Callisto still appears to date, but for very few seconds. The enemy team which joined the TeamSpeak server all left, except for one who grew fond of Sapphire: Brandon Lin. He was interested in playing League of Legend with the group, however, the group itself began to lose interest in League of Legends.

The New Age (May 2013 - Present)

The League of Legends team sponsored by Sapphire, Sapphire Gaming led by Jimmy Hong, was disbanded when Jimmy Hong and co got into a big argument with the rest of the group. Jimmy, Johnnie, Jessenia, and Ryan all leave. With the fall of Jimmy Hong and co, some room was cleared for new members. The coming of a new age demanded for new culture in Sapphire, and as such the usage of Dis Dik begins to inflate.

During this time, Mohammad Bhatti brought a new member, Usama Riaz. Caleb Duke recruits a new member, Chase Jenkins, during the Summer of 2013. Chase Jenkins quickly passed his Initiation which involved a lot of DIK. Over the Summer of 2013, the group took interest to online Poker and an MMORPG called Haven and Hearth. After the summer holiday trips occurred, the group reorganized to see each other off to school. This also involved the miraculous resurrection of Nick Zaslav and Will Messick who is now a cool kid, 420.

During the Fall of 2013, Jimmy Hong and co return, except for Ryan. Furthermore, they have resumed playing with the crew of Sapphire Gaming to warm up for Season 4. The group has shifted its focus primarily back on League of Legends.

Culture of Sapphire

The Sapphire crew hangs out in their TeamSpeak server virtually every day. A distinct, one might go as far as to say phenomenal, culture is found there known as the Circle culture (see the Circle Podcast). The Circle culture is influenced by many factors. The highest influence comes from the image board 4chan. The second highest influence comes from news board Reddit. The remaining influence is from random parts of the Internet, and a bit from the real life East Coast culture (all members that live in the United States are located near the East Coast). The material borrowed from parts of the Internet goes through Sapphirization, or adaptation to the group.

Bad manner

Within Sapphire, a concept of wrongness exists. It's called bad manner and the term hails from StarCraft II and related games, thus obviously making it is a term t3sla picked up for the group. Bad manner is often abbreviated as BM. BM is defined as annoying, harassing, making fun of , flaming, pestering, etc. Most of Sapphire agrees that BM is a hate crime and is punishable. Sapphire has odd methods of punishment, however, usually nothing extreme.

Callistostarianism

See Callistostarianism for the full article.

Callistostarianism is a joke religion in Sapphire and a collection of doctrines which were taught by Callisto (who was a real person) himself. Lord Callisto randomly joined Sapphire's TeamSpeak3 one day and began to answer questions which are recorded in the Callisto Dialogues and in an episode of the Circle Podcast. In addition to Callisto, there are other figures. Gatzi Almighty (who isn't an actual person), involved in Callistostarianism, is mentioned frequently in Sapphire. His name is usually used in vain, Oh my gat-almighty.

Cannabis culture

Even though no one in Sapphire actually blazes it 420 (well, maybe weyrt), it is a big part of Sapphire's culture. The most important terms are 420 and Blaze it faggot which are manipulated at an insane rate. The most popular byproducts are 420 blaze it fgt or 120, 220, 320, 420, 520, 620, 720, 820, 920, 1220, blaze it fgttttt.

"Death"

A very interesting part of Sapphire cultural is the practice of "death". When a member is away from (keyboard announced/unannounced) they "die". Nick Zaslav and Will Messick are two people who often die and return to life months later. Michael McGloin and Mohammad Bhatti also died before, but have since been resurrected.

Departure of Duke

See three times for the full article.

Caleb Duke, founder, has left Sapphire a total of three times. Initially, he made his first departure hoping to fool the whole group. It was such a long departure time wise that it was considered an actual leave. The second time was a rather legitimate departure because of the project he started known as Dirty Players Gaming. Duke, at this point, transitioned his name from Slar3xSpr33 (commonly shortened as Slar pronounced SLEYR) to DirtySpr33 or just Dirty. This group disbanded rather fast even after being picked up by Sapphire and sponsored. He returned due to the fact that he was bored. The final departure caused him to start his new and success group solely focused on him. He makes videos on YouTube and streams on Twitch. So far he has actually even streamed for Charity. He claims to have "a more successful life" without the group being in his way. More recently, Duke has returned; see Three times for more information.

DIS DIK

With the recent coming of the new age in Sapphire, the demand for a new fad grew. Bryan proposed the perfect solution, which wasn't recognized until the new age arose: DIS DIK which was the real answer to 1x/1. Furthermore, a similar solution was proposed also by Bryan back in 2011. DIS DIK began mutating, as most fads do in Sapphire. From it spawned: DEEZ NUTZ, DIESENUHTZ, DIESELFUUL, SUK MI DIK, SUK MEIN DIK, DISDIK.CUM, DEEZ.NUTZ etc. DIS DIK is also used as a response to most sentences. For example: What is the time? DIS DIK!

It has become one of the most important aspects of culture in Sapphire. So great, that it was heavily involved with the Initiation of Chase Jenkins, who managed to pass the trials. It is frequently exploited and snipped to be used on audio tracks creating what is known as a DIK remix.

Etymology

The phrase DIS DIK comes from two origins, as explained previously. From its ancestor, Suck my dick! and from a descendant This dick!. Following the Sapphirization of the phrase, it became DIS DIK. D- replaces th- and -k replaces -ck. Furthermore it is also spelled in all caps.

DIS DIK: THE FRANCHISE

As Bryan foresaw, DIS DIK can be exploited in many ways. He is starting a franchise which is planned to include a game, movie, novel, TV show, and album.

Product About
DIS DIK: THE GAME Before Bryan went on vacation during the summer of 2013, he mentioned making a game about DIK, DIS DIK: THE GAME. It was supposed to be released in a day after its confirmation, but rather it was decided to be released in waves. The alpha will be released in 8 months (from any given time), the beta in 16 months (from any given time), and the full game in 24 years (from any given time).
DIS DIK: THE NOVEL On September 21, 2013, Bryan announced a new product of the DIK franchise called DIS DIK: THE NOVEL, which is about a high school student competing with others to see who is the most powerful DIK user.
DIS DIK: THE MOVIE To be announced.
DIS DIK: THE SHOW To be announced.
DIS DIK: THE ALBUM On Hallowe'en of 2013, Bryan published two tracks of the new 'DIS DIK: THE ALBUM' with promises of more to cum soon. The playlist can be found here.

Funky's Law

Funky's Law of League of Legends states clearly that:

  • To play an AP character, you must build AD.

This law has caused conflict and unleashed massive amounts of BM within Sapphire due to the fact that it is encourage a troll build that most of the time might fail.

Initiation

The Initiation is a series of trials that are usually different for all new members and each last a different amount of time. The longest initiation to date was the one involving Jimmy Hong and co which eventually drove them out (however, they returned). Initiation usually involves a lot of DIK, as demonstrated in the Initiation of Chase Jenkins.

Meme Controversy

One of the biggest conflicts on the Internet is 4chan v. 9GAG. Sapphire's material is essentially Sapphirized material from 4chan and Reddit, therefore most people in Sapphire would cling to the 4chan side of the argument. To legitimately enjoy browsing 9GAG is looked down upon within Sapphire.

Necking

When someone commits a mindless, unintelligent act, or says something unintelligent, a Sapphire member should feel obligated to correct them and proceed to get their "neck". Getting a neck is achieved by playing a flat palm on the other person's neck, and swiping it with a varying speed and force. When calling a neck, or getting necked, people have the option to...

  • call no nothing. Meaning a neck is theirs regardless of self-serve or any other call.
  • call self-serve. Giving a softer swipe to your neck to "self serve" and avoid the pain of the real thing.
  • call teleport/time travel into the past and self-serve.
  • call my big toe. Don't touch it.
  • claim false neck when a neck is truly unjustful. This results in a counter-neck.

Remember, no nothing overpowers all other calls. Brief history: necking originated in Southern Florida where Bryan, t3sla, and Jeremy all live.

Sapphirization

Sapphirization refers to the conversion of certain things to the style of Sapphire. Typically, Sapphirized material is goofy and mocks certain things or is simply just more convenient for the members of Sapphire. Most material that cycles within Sapphire is Sapphirized material from 4chan, Reddit, and various parts of the Internet. Some Sapphirized material is created with the sole purpose of mocking cancerous places of the Internet, such as 9GAG.

Swagfags

No offense to homosexuals. None was intended, anyway.

Swagfags are those who by definition who legitimately...

  • buy new shoes frequently.
  • play modern consoles.
  • use instagram and are males.
  • listen to rap music.
  • act like a pimp.
  • use swagfaggotric terminology .

If a person is experiencing any of these symptoms, he might be a swagfag. Unless, they are doing so for pure LULZ. The only known swagfags ever to be in Sapphire are Jimmy and Caleb Duke, but as of late Duke has abandoned his ways.

t3sla mode

Before the Summer of 2012, when DayZ became popular in Sapphire, t3sla never spoke a word over the microphone. Until then, he was in what was known as t3sla mode. It was considered massive BM and therefore he was prompted to start using his microphone.

Religion of Sapphire

Most people in Sapphire have some sort of belief. The main identifications in Sapphire are Atheism, Christianity, Catholicism, Islam, and the joke religion Callistostarianism. However, if you ask anyone individually, they would most likely explain how there's a lot more to it then just organized religion presents there to be.

Teams and Divisions

Sapphire sponsors teams and has divisions.

Dirty Players Gaming (dissolved)

See Dirty Players Gaming for the full article.

Dirty Players Gaming was a division of Sapphire which was originally created by Caleb Duke. It was picked up by Sapphire a few days after the creation. Days later, it was disbanded and Caleb Duke assumed his normal position in Sapphire.

Sapphire Gaming (disssolved)

Later, a League of Legends North American ranked team was formed with the captain Jimmy Hong. The whole team including substitutes includes Bryan, Jimmy, Jessenia, Jeremy, t3sla, and Czydude. It has participated in tournaments. Previously named I Am America And So Can You!.

After multiple internal conflicts, Jimmy, Jessenia, and Czydude leave Sapphire, ultimately causing the League of Legends team to disband and causing the group to lose interest in the game itself.

In the Fall of 2013, Jimmy Hong and co return and reunite with the League crew to warm up for Season 4.

Team Vision

Sapphire also sponsors a European League of Legends team called Team Vision. It is composed of Cydax, Sarim Cast, Sindre, and Sinson.

Online Militia

Sapphire has two online militias, which should present no threat in actuality considering they're just for sh*ts and giggles. The first would be the Keyboard Warriors Association with no apparent commander, however, having Caleb Duke's mother as the de facto leader. The second army is called the Low Orbit Ion Soldiers who utilize the Low Orbit Ion Cannon and is famous for Platoon 15 Squadron 5 commanded by Jimmy Hong and includes the war hero Captain Creasingwolf.

Tournaments

Sapphire hosts tournaments, though, not all for a prize pool. Some are purely for fun and/or recognition.
