In the early years of Sapphire, DIK was not a thing. To have a circlejerk seemed like a foreign idea at the time. At this time, the group's culture somewhat revolved around That '70s Show. The group was interested in the sexuality and cannabis culture involved in the show. The group could relate to the show greatly, as they were always with what some call a natural high. In the show, there was a Circle in which, under the influence of marijuana, the characters conceived many "great" ideas. This concept of a circle of friends [who were "high"] was integrated into Sapphire and from then on the group itself [of Sapphire] was also known as The Circle.
