The Circle, short for the Circlejerk, also called the group, is the name for the people of Sapphire.

See Culture of Sapphire for a summary of Circle culture.

Etymology

In the early years of Sapphire, DIK was not a thing. To have a circlejerk seemed like a foreign idea at the time. At this time, the group's memes somewhat revolved around That '70s Show. In the show, there was a Circle in which, under the influence of marijuana, the characters conceived many "great" ideas. This concept of a circle of friends [who were "high"] was integrated into Sapphire, and Bryan insisted that the group should adopt the name "The Circle".
